Hello! Today we are going to learn about something very interesting, . Do you ever have a plastic fork or spoon that you throw away after just one meal? That’s what we call bite disposable cutlery! It sounds very easy and convenient to use, but it is apparently detrimental and it harms our planet in multiple ways.
Disposable cutlery are moved to a landfill when we throw it. A landfill is a large area where garbage is stacked tall. This trash can take decades and decades to break down and decompose, which is super bad for the environment! This means that the stuff we throw away might be sitting in the landfill for ages without disappearing. The problem, of course, is that disposable cutlery can be blown away from the landfill by the wind where — you guessed it — it winds up in rivers, lakes and oceans. This is highly disruptive to wildlife, such as fish and birds, that may inadvertently ingest the plastic or become injured by it.
So, is this really a good idea when it comes to disposable cutlery? We need to consider quite what comes next, when we’ve used it. We should think about where our choices lead us, and whether we can make better, more sustainable choices. Sustainable – that is, it’s good for the environment and can survive longer without any damage.
But there is better news even now! And now the clean cutlery maker, along with many companies like Fuling, is creating green disposable spoons, forks and knives. Such type of cutlery is made up of unique materials and decompose much more quickly with less environmental impact. Fuling even has plant-based compostable cutlery, which can break down fully in about 90 days! It has a much shorter life span than normal plastic cutlery, and will thus vanish into thin air much quicker, helping to clean our planet,” he said.”
The real issue with disposable cutlery is that we only use it once before we throw it away. This leads to a waste of valuable resources, like plastic or wood, that last for only a couple of minutes of dining. That doesn’t seem all that wise when you come to think of it! And to keep making these single-use products the factories are using up chemicals, and energy in ways that can pollute the environment, and that thinking is harmful to the planet and to us.
If we use disposable cutlery then we can take other better solutions in order to not harm the planet. Let us just say we can use a metal utensil, wooden utensil, or glass utensil as they are strong. These kinds of utensils are durable and wash and reuse endlessly. They are environmentally friendlier, they last much longer than plastic cutlery, so when we use them they don’t break off as quickly as plastic will do.
